Should Have Brought the Igloo

Here we sit huddled inside, round the fire keeping warm, while outside the wind howls and the snow flies. Which is all well and good if this was January, however it is now April and the wintry weather is expected to last at least another week.  Due to the unseasonable temperatures the Captain had to winterize the 5th wheel and looks like we won’t be back on the road for a bit just yet.  On the bright side CC has not been assigned any serious yard work by the Coach other than shovelling some snow which technically doesn’t count as yard work.

The downside to the weather, and the fact that we didn’t bring ice picks with us, is our bicycles remain locked to the trailer and our bike riding has been put in cold storage so to speak. Even our daily walks have been limited however the Captain has been seen on occasion out for an early morning jog (in shorts of course) in the below freezing weather. No photographic evidence is available however to verify this somewhat outrageous claim.

Despite the chilly weather the hearty Canadian Easter Bunny was sited on Easter morning on his annual eggistential journey.

A sad bit of news was received a few days after the celebration with the passing of our Mom’s twin brother Arthur (Pete). Uncle Pete and Mom were the last 2 remaining siblings (of 7) of the Scarborough Powell Clan.  We will be heading to Port Perry on April 24th for a celebration of Uncle Pete’s life.

Downchild Blues Concert

We did get out of the house for an evening and went tosee Downchild Blues Band concert at the famous Grand Theatre in Kingston Ontario. This illustrious blues band is a Canadian icon and have been performing for 47 years. These guys were the inspiration for the Dan Akroyd Blues Brothers films. A superb concert by the band and the opening act of David Gogo from our home province of BC. Recording was not permitted at the concert so “the Don” did not actually record this action???

We also enjoyed a BBQ at Don and Sylvie’s last night. Unfortunately didn’t get a picture of the Don outside BBQing in the cold and wind but it did look like he was having fun???

Depending on the weather we hope to be able to hitch up the trailer and head out to the Oggorfian Empire this coming weekend but only time will tell.

  1. Brrrrr; looks too cold for me. Cannot believe that it has snowed there; craziness:)
Thanks for sharing all the wonderful pictures; appears you’ve been having a great time in Bath/Kingston
Thinking of the Powell family at this time.
Take care as you continue your journey and drive safe! Love xo

  2. So this is your fault that the weather is crappy. Please get on your hands and knees to pray for warm weather. The golf clubs are waiting to be used. See you both soon. Lol Lynn
