Until very recently we were known exclusively by our given names of Gary and Debbra. This all changed not so long ago while hiking in the California Desert near the Imperial Dam Reservoir. We were befriended by two companion hikers (Hawk and Red Fox). Hawk is a WordPress Blogger and insisted on taking copious amounts of pictures and providing a narrative on the sights of each hike (with little regard to his knowledge or lack thereof of the particular subject) However he was very likable and we humoured him by listening. Faithfully after each hike Hawk would post his pictures on the Blog. While preparing for one of our hikes we were anointed by Hawk as Captain Canada and Debbie Dewdrops. The following video (stolen from Hawk’s Blog) captures the whole sordid incident.
Well enough of that. Deb and Gary have been together since the age of 15 ½ when Gary was taken advantage of by the proverbial older woman (I know its only 6 weeks but still!!!). After toiling away for over 45 years we are both getting ready to retire and travel. We recently spent 3 months in the desert dry camping to get our feet wet, which was a bit difficult in the desert, but we did try. Soon we will be leaving our home in Vernon, British Columbia for a one year trip that will take us to eastern Canada, back to Imperial Dam and on up to Alaska and points beyond. We will be travelling with a number of friends for part of this journey (including the Hawk and Red Fox). I will be under the expert tutelage of the much older Hawk in keeping this Blog in order and hope you tag along.
